The Proving Register

The Proving Register tracks Engagements progressing through assay, and reference evaluations that predate the Foundation. Entries here are not Hallmarked. Independence is stated for each — and where an evaluation was performed by the delivery vehicle rather than an independent Assayer, it is marked as such.

The assay offices have always kept trial records — the Trial of the Pyx — distinct from and prior to public hallmarking. The Proving Register is the Pyx. An Engagement is promoted to the production Register only when an independent Assayer strikes the Hallmark.

Nothing in the Proving Register carries a Hallmark or a Date Letter. The embeddable badge verifies only against the production Register, so a proving Engagement becomes verifiable precisely when it is Hallmarked — and not before.
